Level Up! Participant Enrollment and Seasonal Instructions
The LEVEL UP! program takes place in SPRING April 1-30 and FALL October 1-31. Participants are community members who measure their own* well water levels in an effort to better understand the health of our aquifers from season to season. Once again we invite participants to borrow our sonic measurement device, take your measurement and then upload that information to the Groundwater Data Dashboard.
If you are new to the program, there are a few one-time steps needed to get you and your well enrolled. If you are a returning participant, it is just three quick and easy steps!
If you have a neighbor or friend who would like to participate, please invite them to sign up, too!
*A few LEVEL UP! wells are selected for staff-facilitated measurement due to their location in the aquifer. If your well has been selected, a staff member will reach out to you.
Instructions for first-time Level Up! participants
Onboarding Steps
If you have not already done so, be sure to fill in the LEVEL UP! Interest Form so we can get you into our main participation list.
1. Complete the Volunteer Well Information Form, which asks for technical specifications of your well location and construction details. If you have any paperwork related to your well’s construction or maintenance, it will be helpful for completing this form. We have staff who can help you if this is a challenge. Just let us know if you would like assistance and we can schedule a call.
After you complete the Volunteer Well Information Form, our staff will work on enrolling your well in our database program. This can take some time, so thank you in advance for your patience. Once your well is fully enrolled in the database, you will be issued an anonymized, confidential Well ID number and PIN via email. If you ever lose or forget your Well ID or PIN, contact us and someone will reach out to personally give you that information securely. (Note: You do not need the Well ID and PIN to take your measurement, so don’t delay measuring if you have not received it yet.)
2. Learn how the Ravensgate 300 Sonic Water Level Measuring Device Works. (It is very simple and fast!). Watch this 3 1/2 minute video explaining how quick and easy it is to use this device.
3. Locate your well and confirm that you know how to open the port to measure the water level. You may need a tool like a vice grip or ratchet set). If you need assistance, you can send us a photo and our staff can advise you.

After Measurement Day
1. Report your measurement to the Groundwater Data Dashboard using your Well ID number and PIN after they have been issued to you by our staff. The form is linked in the header of the Dashboard’s front page. The webpage link provided here is to an introductory page that provides some instructions on how to navigate and understand the dashboard features.
2. Your measurement will appear on the Groundwater Data Dashboard after the month is over once our technical staff has reviewed the information. Once you have more than one measurement submitted, your data will be displayed on a hydrograph that can be viewed when you click on your well displayed on the map.
